Sclerotherapy for Spider Veins and Varicose Veins
Sclerotherapy is the medical solution to permanently eliminate spider veins (telangiectasias) and varicose veins. In our clinics, we use both the traditional technique and Foam Sclerotherapy to close visible vessels and restore beauty and lightness to the legs, without surgery.
What Is Sclerotherapy and How Does It Work?
Sclerotherapy is a non-surgical medical treatment that permanently eliminates dilated capillaries and small varicose veins through local injections of sclerosing agents.
The injected solution causes permanent closure of the treated vessels, which are naturally reabsorbed by the body, leaving the skin free from vascular imperfections.
Sclerotherapy vs. Foam: What’s the Difference?
At Derma Laser Clinic, we adapt the technique to the type of vessel being treated:
Sclerotherapy (for Spider Veins)
Used for thin, superficial capillaries (telangiectasias), red or bluish. Very fine needles are used to inject the liquid with millimeter precision.
Foam Sclerotherapy (for Varicose Veins)
For medium and large caliber veins, the solution is transformed into a dense foam (mousse). The foam adheres better to the vein walls and does not dilute in the blood, ensuring superior effectiveness even on larger vessels, often avoiding surgery.
For those who prefer a conservative approach that does not eliminate the vessel but treats it, we also offer TRAP (Regenerative Phlebotherapy), a technique that regenerates and strengthens vein walls instead of closing them.
Indications for Sclerotherapy and Foam Sclerotherapy
- Visible spider veins on legs and thighs.
- Small and medium varicose veins.
- Superficial venous insufficiency.
Treatment Duration and Method
Each session lasts approximately 20-30 minutes, with protocols of 2-4 sessions, spaced 2-3 weeks apart for optimal results.
Post-Treatment: Compression stockings must be worn for a few days to optimize results. You can walk and work immediately after the session.
Benefits of Sclerotherapy
- Rapid and permanent elimination of treated spider veins.
- Immediate reduction of visible veins.
- Improvement of peripheral circulation and aesthetic appearance of the legs.
